My protection visa journey was one of the hardest experiences of my life. The lawyers guided me through every stage, from my initial submission to my interview preparation. They kept me informed the entire time. No pressure tactics, other firms I had consulted all had tried to pressure me to sign on the spot. Best migration law firm in Australia

FAQ

Common questions, answered straight

No legal jargon. No runaround. Direct answers.

You should choose My Migration Lawyers because we are built around client protection, not sales tactics or applying pressure. Most migration firms focus on getting you to sign quickly and pay upfront. We do the opposite. You do not pay a lump sum at the start. Work is completed first and invoiced in stages, so you are not paying for work that has not been done. At My Migration Lawyers, your matter is handled by expert immigration lawyers who are used to handling complex and high-risk immigration matters, including refusals, cancellations, tribunal appeals, and court judicial review.

Yes. Complex, high-risk, and legally demanding matters are where we do our best work. We regularly act for clients who come to us after their matter has been refused or not handled properly by other migration agents, immigration lawyers or migration firms. This includes situations where applications were incomplete, key issues were overlooked, or the case was not presented in a structured way. Our role is to assess what has happened and identify what needs to be done next. This may involve reviewing previous decisions and preparing a new strategy.

Yes. We regularly take over matters where a previous migration agent or law firm has made errors, missed key issues, or not prepared the case properly. The first step is a full review of what has already been done, including applications, supporting documents, and any decisions that have been issued. We then explain clearly where your matter stands. This includes identifying what went wrong, what risks now exist, and what options are realistically available.

Many migration firms rely on urgency, pressure, and sales tactics to secure engagement quickly and many of their clients come to us after experiencing pressure to sign immediately. We have structured our process to remove that entirely. At My Migration Lawyers, once you sign your engagement, you are given a two-business-day cooling-off period. This allows you to step back, review everything carefully, and confirm your decision without urgency. If you decide not to proceed within that time, you receive a full refund. This approach reflects our focus on protecting your rights, not rushing your decision.

Never. Pressure tactics are prohibited at MML. In this industry, it is common to encounter approaches such as: "Limited spots available"; "This offer is only valid today"; "Sign today to secure your place"; "We can give you a discount if you sign today"; "If you leave, this price won't be available later"; "We can reduce the fee if you sign now"; time-limited discounts or special pricing on the spot; a lawyer leaving the room saying "let me speak to my manager to see if I can get you a better deal"; suggesting your case will be delayed or disadvantaged if you do not sign immediately; or presenting pricing as flexible only if you agree on the spot. We do not use any of these methods. You are given clear written information about fees, process, and your rights so you can make a considered decision. Even after signing, you have two full business days to reconsider and withdraw, with a full refund.

Update cadences are documented service standards, not promises. Your engagement letter specifies how often you will hear from us and what format those updates take. If we fall short you have grounds to raise a formal complaint.

MML has a formal written complaints procedure with a defined escalation path and resolution timeframes. You are not left chasing someone on a phone. The process is documented and followed.

My Migration Lawyers takes cybersecurity seriously because of the nature of the information we handle. Your identity documents, financial records, and personal history are sensitive and must be protected accordingly. These are not stored or managed using basic or consumer-grade tools. We use professional-grade systems with controlled access, meaning only authorised team members can access your information. Access is restricted based on role, and activity is recorded through audit trails so there is accountability at every stage.

Yes. My Migration Lawyers operates nationally and assists clients across every Australian state and territory. Your location does not limit access to our services. All consultations are conducted by Zoom. This allows you to speak directly with a lawyer without needing to attend an office. It also means you can access the same level of service regardless of where you are based.

My Migration Lawyers responds to all enquiries within one business day. This is a firm-wide standard designed to ensure that clients receive timely and reliable communication from the outset. Urgent matters are identified early and prioritised for same-day response. This includes situations where there are deadlines, risks, or time-sensitive issues that require immediate attention.
